Hold the Date

It is getting to be that time of year again.  I have been informed that the Annual Family picnic is scheduled for Saturday June 16, 2018.  It will be at Camp Letts, but I have not gotten any other information as of now.  Please save the date for a day of fun with your brothers and sisters.

I will print more as the information is given to me.

Inspections in Maryland

Dear Members,

Please pull up the WUSA Channel 9 facebook contact information and post a comment as it relates to the investigational report that they aired last nght.  It is a very important issue that we have been working on and your input is very important.  Please make sure that we stress the point of public safety in regards to the Maryland Elevator Inspections being physically witnessed.  Please do not make it a union issue in your comments.  Thank you for your help as we continue to push for improving the Elevator Inspections in Maryland.

The Business Office

Christmas in April

It is that time of year again.  Mike Herrity Sr. will be taking sign ups for this years Christmas in April at the Union Meetings for the next couple of months.  Tammie will also take sign ups at the Union Hall office as well.  This project is one that is near and dear to the hearts of alot of people here at Local #10.  It gives us a chance to give back to the community.  We help people, who cannot help themselves.  Most of the families we help either cannot do the work themselves or they cannot afford to pay to have the work done.  The emotion that these families have after we have been there is amazing.  They are so grateful and they just can't thank you enough.  It really does give you a good feeling, inside, knowing that you have made a difference in someones life, so come out and help Local #10 members and family do a good thing.  You can sign up at the Union Meeting, the Union Hall, call Mike at 540-219-8909, or send him an email at mherrity@hotmail.com.

Hope to see there !

Rest in Peace, Brother

It is with a very heavy heart that I notify the body of the passing of Brother Tregon Kirschner.  Tregon passed suddenly on December 25, 2017.  The services for Tregon will be on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 12:30 pm.  The service will be held at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, 211 St. Marys Avenue, LaPlata, MD, where a reception will follow.  The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, you please make a donation to either www.gofundme.com/tregonsmemorialfund or www.rescueangelssomd.com in Tregon's name.

You will be greatly missed, Brother.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Pam and the entire family in this time of sorrow.

Another wonderful get together

I am very sorry for the delay in getting an update on the Family Christmas party for you.  We had another wonderful get together with all the families and children this year.  Santa was the biggest hit, as always, for the children.  Their faces light up when they hear his bell coming down the hall way to the Union Hall.  They all sit on the floor waiting to hear their name and their chance to sit on Santas lap.  Santa's first visitor decided to give his beard a big pull, I guess to see if it was REAL!!!  Santa let out a little yell and then gave a big belly laugh !  Brother Chris Foster's baby girl just looked at him like "What did I do?"  It was the cutest.  All the food was amazing and the children made some of the best ornaments yet.  Thank you to all that attended and a really big thank you to all that helped with the clean up.  I would also like to thank Mrs. Virginia Gieb for all the great pictures.  I have put a photo grouping in the Photo Gallery for you to see all the fun.

If you and your family did not make it this year, we hope to see you next year.
